Santorini Highlights Tour -5 hours
Our Santorini Highlight tour generally follow a standard itinerary but keep in mind that it is a private tour so you can tailor the trip itinerary to suit your needs. The tour begins with a journey to Oia, where you can take in the scenic views of nearby islands and the Aegean Sea. Once you reach the top of the hill where Oia is located, you can marvel at the view of the caldera before exploring the narrow streets with whitewashed buildings.
Afterward, we’ll continue along to the village of Imerovigli, where a rock named Skaros served as a lookout for pirates. Next, you can get your postcard-perfect photo of the Blue Dome Church in Firostefani.
From there, you make your way up Santorini’s tallest mountain to the Prophet Ilias monastery that sits 2,000 feet above sea level. Before you enter the Greek Christian monastery, take a moment to appreciate the vistas around you, especially below where Santorini meets the deep blue sea.
Next, you can visit the old capital, Pyrgos, and walk along the narrow streets until you reach the Venetian castle. After this, you can take a moment to relax and learn about the secrets of winemaking at the Venetsanos winery while sipping on local wines.
Lastly, you can enjoy the stunning black beach of Perivolos along the southern coast. While you’re there, your guide can provide recommendations for the best restaurants for you to have an optional lunch while you take in the views.
With that, your Santorini half-day private tour ends. Your guide will drop you off at your hotel or elsewhere at a port, airport or the cable car terminal in Fira.
The trip begins with a stop at the Santorini Caldera, after you meet up with your tour guide. Then, you travel on to Oia, a village in the countryside. This area is famous for inspiring artists through the beautiful architecture, stunning landscape and colorful sunsets.
The city of Imerovigli is next, a town situated up high on a cliff. Here you learn about the history of Skaros, the large rock at the front of the village the townspeople would go to in order to watch out for pirates roaming the sea.
After a short stop to see the Blue Dome Church in Firostefani, you travel up to Prophet Ilias to take in the island vistas as you stand 2,000 feet above sea level. Your guide will take you to a Greek Christian monastery that is situated at the summit before visiting Pyrgos, where you can explore the narrow streets that lead to the old Venetian castle.
You are welcome to visit the excavation and archeological site for an additional 120 euros. Please be aware that this tour lasts 90 minutes.
Don’t want to hire a historical guide? No problem, you can explore the ruins by yourself.
Next, you can soak up the sun at the Red and Black beaches. Depending on the tour time you choose, you can also enjoy lunch overlooking the Aegean Sea (own expense). For a fitting end to the tour, relax at Venetsanos winery where you can learn about the process for making wine and sip on local varieties.
If you are a cruise ship guest, your tour will end at the Fira cable car terminal. Otherwise, your private guide will drop you off at your hotel.
